5 reasons why you MUST attend Appetite for Art this year

On April 22, from 7 – 10 p.m., the Kelowna Art Gallery will transform into an enchanted woodland for its annual Appetite for Art fundraiser. As the presenting sponsor, we look forward to this event every year and we really think that you should check it out.

    1.  The food… and drinks!

As the name suggests, this is the place to be if you like good food, great drinks, and want to help support art education and creativity. Guests will meander through the gallery, sampling delicious food and drinks from some of the top chefs, winemakers, distillers and brewers from throughout the Okanagan Valley.

This year’s food and drink partners include:

    • Waterfront Wines
    • Okanagan Spirits Craft Distillery
    • Joy Road Catering
    • Mission Hill Family Estate
    • Tree Brewing Co.
    • Blue Mountain Vineyards
    • Sandrine French Pastry and Chocolate
    • BNA Brewing Co.
    • Okanagan College Culinary Arts Program

    2.  The spectacular decor

What happens when you tell a bunch of creatives and artists who work at a gallery that they get to decorate for a party? A whole lot of awesome, that’s what! This year’s theme invites guests to take ‘A Walk in the Woods’, so we can expect some pretty amazing, rustic, forest-like decor. We also hear that they have some surprise animated performances in the works…

    3.  The (friendly) competition

If you’ve never participated in a live auction, you don’t know what you’re missing! Register for your paddle number and get ready to bid on some very special pieces of art. The very popular Live Auction will take place at 8:30 p.m., giving guests a chance to raise their paddles and snap up some coveted artworks. If you aren’t able to attend, you can still bid on pieces thanks to an online auction that allows guests to preview and pre-bid on select works.

Appetite for Art offers up some special pieces for art lovers and collectors. The walls of the Kelowna Art Gallery’s largest exhibition space will be adorned with works from 35 local artists, available for purchase to take home that evening. There are pieces available in a range of price points, so don’t be shy.

    5.  The warm and fuzzy feeling

This spectacular evening helps raise funds for educational and children’s programming at the KAG, including their School Tours program, Family Sundays, Art Adventures camps, art programs for the vision impaired, and CONNECT – an art program for adults with developmental disabilities. So while you’re nibbling on decadent food, sipping local brews and bidding on local art, you’re helping to support our creative community and the artists of the future.
