Kelowna, British Columbia is a great spot to head to if you’re in the mood for adventure. Some people like the watersports and activities on Lake Okanagan, while others make the trek out of the city to visit the Monashee Mountains for snowy fun at Big White Ski Resort. But no trip to Kelowna could be complete without a night of brews, food, and a bit of hockey on the big screen. When you’re ready to cheer your guts out for the Kelowna Rockets, here are some of the best spots in town to check out the game.
Rusty’s Steakhouse: Steak, Sports, and More
Rusty’s Steakhouse, at 1-1525 Dilworth Drive, is an upscale eatery and sports lounge like no other. Since opening in 2008, Rusty’s has become the place to watch your favourite game and hang out with your friends. When it’s time for the Kelowna Rockets to hit the ice, head to Rusty’s to watch the game on one of 20 flat-screen TVs or two projectors. It’s more than just surround sound; it’s surround sight! Rusty’s also has a big open patio and 14 pool tables, so when you’re done cheering on the Rockets, you can relax and unwind with a game of your own. No night would be complete without a pint of beer and a bite to eat, so make sure you check out the menu and get one of the friendly staff to pour you a cold one.
Tonics: Just the Elixir You Need
Tonics Pub & Grill, located at 1654 Ellis Street, has screens set up all over the place so you can enjoy watching a game while having something to eat or resting your legs at the bar after a day of snowboarding. Tonics is pretty spacious—there’s a big patio on one side of the building, lots of room to move inside, and plenty of places to sit and relax. If you’re looking for something to eat, try the wings; they come highly recommended from anyone who tries them, and many think they’re the best in town. After the game, expect Tonics to heat up and turn into a party zone. It’s a great place to be on game night, or any night.
Boston Has the Full Canadian Experience
Boston Pizza is a chain restaurant that operates throughout Canada. It may not be your first port of call when looking for a sports bar, but Boston Pizza at 2339 North Highway 97 is the place many locals and tourists head to watch sports and UFC. The new sports bar add-on, which opened a few years ago, boasts a projection screen and a host of plasma screens, so no matter where you’re at in the bar, you can see Kelowna’s finest battle it out on the ice.
If you find yourself in Kelowna on game night and these bars are too busy for your liking, never fear—most bars in the city are well equipped to handle game night. You’ll have no trouble seeing the Rockets in many bars around town.
